U9 v Shadwell

Another great performance from the U9’s on Sunday against Shadwell.

Shadwell won the toss and put Tabs into bat with Jude and Jack opening the batting for us. Jack got into the grove straight away hitting a number of fours and running really well with Jude. A good solid start of 21 with no wickets lost!

The good running and batting continued with Freddie W (11) and Charlie (13). Some lovely correct shots from both of them and another good partnership of 24 with no wickets. With the score building nicely James (captain) and Olivia sprinted to the crease and carried on that pace with some good hits and a great partnership of 35 and again no wickets lost. James scoring 20 and Olivia 15.

Max and William then got to the wicket and seemed to be egging each other on as each of them alternated in hitting fours. Then Max hit a six which was then followed by William hitting one to. A fantastic partnership of 64 with Max hitting 28 and William 36, again with no wickets lost meant we achieved a mighty total of 343, equalling the highest total in the league, (I think) also a TABS total!

Pumped up by a lot of runs the team performed really well in the field with some real heroics and solid ground fielding. The bowling was really good from everyone, with Jack setting the tone with the first over which was a maiden.

The four things we have been working on, Walking In, Backiing Up, Long Barrier and Encouragement all very evident along with the fifth, having fun!! We had 4 run outs and 4 catches and lots of high fives!. Charlie Lythe and Freddie W taking some great catches. Freddie’s is worth a special mention, with Max bowling quickly he was positioned at a deep position at Wicket Keeper when the batsman clipped it over the wicket, Freddie ran in 15 yards and then flung himself forward and caught a great catch just off the ground. Big cheers all-round.

The consistent bowling and really determined fielding from everyone meant the wickets were tumbling consistently and
Shadwell finished up on 228, so TABS winning by 115 runs!!

Well Done Boys and Girls a great win, keeping us joint top in the league with one game in the league to go.
