U18 v Shadwell

We travelled to Shadwell to take on the cup winners. Fielding our strongest and most experienced side of the year the omens were good from the first over at our “lucky” venue.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, openers Luke and Ollie Baron did not waste time. On a good wicket with plenty of grass and pace the ball went to the shortest boundary and over it with ease.

In over three we scored 19 runs and by over seven we had amassed a fantastic 95 runs. Luke retired on 53 off only 18 deliveries. George Gibson strode to the crease;  and kept the board moving along. Ollie Baron hit a sublime reverse sweep prior to attempting another and getting clean bowled for an excellent 32 runs off 21 deliveries.

Dan Kilby joined George and together put on 79, which involved quick singles and a terrific 6 over extra cover from George who was playing his last ever Junior game for TABS. Departing for 41 off 27 was a great way to sign off after 12 years service.

Dan too showed some lovely touches and fell for 42 off 29 deliveries shortly afterwards. Will Powell having missed some of the year with injury quickly added 12 with Will Morrison chipping in 6 runs for a total of 198. Great to watch.

Returning to bowl we had a shock as the first over went for 13, however wickets from Johnny White (4-2-15-1) and Ollie Riley helped to keep the pressure on.

The short boundary was also useful for the opposition, however, with the result never in doubt we won by 39 comfortable runs. Wickets for Rowan Bentley and Ed Westmoreland contributing to the cause.

Terrific team work again. Thanks to Paul White for scoring and the parents who came and supported us. There are two more games to play both at the tutor2u oval.
