TABS second team entertained top of the table Stillington at the oval.
The oppositions only loss this year was against us earlier in the season, therefore they were looking for revenge.
Stand in captain Matt Wilkins lost the toss and was put into bat after the warm up.
Jim and Dale opened up but struggled to score as freely as hoped for, facing some excellent swing and tight bowling on a low slow wicket proved tough. The score stuttering to 24 before Jim was the first to go. Matthew Bentley joined Gibson for his first game of the year but soon joined Jim falling for a duck. Wickets continues to fall, Gibson to a quick stumping, Andy Heaps followed too.
Despite a brief cameo from Steve Raine who found the boundary with a couple of clean strikes we continued to fold quickly. An inexperienced team taking on opposition full of confidence was never going to be easy.
After an excellent tea at the Pax, we took to the field. With a meagre total to defend we tried hard but Stillington knocked them off in ten overs, for the loss of a wicket taken by Evan Bentley playing in his first senior game.
Thanks to Phil for umpiring,
and for scoring the injured Jonny White( who scored 50 not out in the win against the opposition in May) – Get well soon JW.
Away next week to Sheriff Hutton, let’s give it a go everybody as the last few weeks haven’t been ideal.
