TABS second team entertained Tadcaster in a quick rematch from the May Bank Holiday Fixture.
The Oval looking in great shape again thanks to Andrew Jones. After a warm up, Captain Williams won the toss and elected to field.
The opening bowlers despite their best efforts struggled to trouble the Tadcaster batsmen and with the score at 58 without loss we needed a wicket.
Enter that man Cole, he was fired up and within no time bagged his first wicket, well caught by Riley at slip.
The runs continued to flow – helped by some sloppy ground fielding again and at 81-1 we needed another. That wicket went to Cole with Chris Stevenson taking a good catch at cow corner.
Cole then continued to turn up the heat on the opposition. Taking the first 7 wickets- including two more catches at slip by Riley for 34 runs. With the tail end batsmen offering little Rowan got among the wickets snaring the last three batsmen.
Tadcaster 134 all out.
After a bite to eat TABS came out to bat.
A solid start again prior to Gibson falling LBW the first to go. Mark Knight continues to find the boundary and posted another 50 before Chris Stevenson on a rare weekend visit hit a sublime 35. The final few runs didn’t take long to find from that man Cole again and Riley.
An easy 7 wicket victory for TABS to keep the local rivals quiet until next year.
30 points in the bag. Thanks to Emma for scoring and Phil for umpiring. With the first team returning from victory at Duncombe Park we played football on the outfield and celebrated together with a drink or two.
We need to keep sharp in the field for our visit to York next week. Training continues on Tuesday evening at the oval.
