Great start to life in Nidderdale League.

Fantastic night at The TABS Oval, as a large crowd watched the U13 beat a strong Harrogate side by 7 runs, in what turned  out to be a really good game.  Batting first TABS posted 100 for 4 with strong batting and good running a feature.  Harry Contreras the one to retire on 28.  In response Harrogate were pegged back by superb TABS ground fielding.  Rob White and Joe Bates were awesome!  A flurry of wickets including runouts and three for Amy left Harrogate in trouble, but Kendall hit a very quick fire 27 to leave the game tight.  As darkness fell Tabs claimed the last wicket off the last ball to seal a great win.

The quality of cricket, for me, justifies are move to this league.  All side will not be as strong as Harrogate but bring on game 2.

17′s move to 2nd round

TABS 17′s opened their season with a first round cup victory over Saxton last night.
Winning the toss TABS elected to take to the field and with tight bowling building the pressure Saxton were soon 2 down for 27 with Oli Brook claiming both wickets.
Saxton though were not rolling over and some lovely strokeplay from Longstaff and Charlie saw a partnership of 74, Longstaff eventually fell to Pat Mercer in his second spell, and Saxton eventually finished on 113 for 3.
TABS opening pair of Joe Atkinson and Ed Mcnicolas strode to the crease with the view of “lets take a look ” Joe struck 10 off the first over and Ed was not to be outdone at the other end with the pair putting on 63 runs in the first 7 overs before Joe fell on 30. Ed moved on to 44 before being stumped and had been joined by Jacob Tomlinson who had moved the score along to 99, Jacob and Henry Eyre then calmly took the team to victory in 16.5 overs.
Proper cricket shots, good shot selection, tight in the field, tidy bowling, a great start guys !!
Bolton Percy at home next week, same again please !

TABS launches 100 Club and new Senior Subscription scheme

As part of the plan to improve the financial position and build Club reserves ahead of a proposed move to a new ground, TABS CC has today launched a 100 Club.

All regular senior players (and relatively infrequent players as well!) are encouraged to join the 100 Club which also doubles up as the senior subscription scheme for this season.

We also hope that as many TABS supporters and friends as possible will join the 100 Club.  Please spread the word!

Joining the 100 Club is easy. Just complete the relevant standing order form and pass it to you team captain or to Dale or Julie, the Club Treasurers.

You can also choose which number (1-100) becomes your personal, lucky number when we begin the regular prize draws in early May.

All the details here, including the entry forms.

Club EGM Thursday 24 January 2013 Re New Ground

From Jim Riley (Chairman) and Steve Thomas (President)

Over the last couple of months discussions have been held with Carter Jonas, the agents who represent the landowners of TABS CC’s ground.

As a result of those discussions, a proposed scheme has been outlined which may enable the Club to develop a new, larger ground nearby. The potential scheme would see TABS CC continue to play at our existing ground for at least the next 3 seasons whilst a new facility is completed.

Accordingly, we have called an EGM on Thursday 24 January 2013 to consider the potential development.

The proposed venue for the meeting is The Pax, although this is still to be confirmed. If an alternative venue is used, we will update members via the website and email newsletter.

All existing Club members are encouraged to attend to make their views known.

Members will be asked to vote on the following motions:

(1)    That the Club welcomes the opportunity to develop a new facility in the village and commits to working positively with Carter Jonas and other stakeholders to evaluate the viability of the development

An alternate motion will also be presented for vote:

(2)    That the Club does not wish to develop a new facility in the village and does not wish to enter into further discussions about the proposed development at this time

If motion 1 is passed, then a vote on motion 3 will be taken

(3)    That a sub-committee of the Club is formed to represent the Club in discussions with Carter Jonas, the Thorp Arch Neighbourhood Planning Group, the ECB, YCB, Sport England and other relevant stakeholders in the potential development

As you can see, this is an important meeting and we strongly encourage you to attend.

Best regards

Steve and Jim
