U9 v Scarcroft

A good and big win for the U9’s on Sunday against Scarcroft.

Max won the toss and with 7 enthusiastic team mates shouting /encouraging him to bowl he looked as though he might bat first, keeping the suspense and after a long 10 second “X Factor Style” pause he did finally decide to bowl first much to his teams delight!

Harry Naish opened the bowing with his tricky leg spin and started a wicket taking theme for the rest of the team to follow. Next up was Charlie Lythe playing his first game who also picked up a wicket in his second over. This was then copied by all of the team who all got wickets in their 2 overs. 11 wickets were taken with 2 from Max, Olivia and James and everyone else each getting a wicket which was great to see. Well Done.

The Scarcroft team are relatively new to the league and I think our regular training and experience together as a group shone through in the field with their score being reduced to 176.

Again it was great to see everyone contribute with the bat as well. Everyone got into double figures with Charlie and Harry scoring 38 and getting us off to a flying start. Olivia and James, with some great hits off the T and fast running getting 37. Isaac and Jack then scored 30 with a couple of near sixes from Issac. Then William G and Max then finished it off with a stand of 57 with Max scoring 30 and William 27.

So with a score of 343 it was high fives all round and a big win! It was really great to see some new players doing well today, there have now been 20 different players representing TABS at U9’s and the standard of play is improving all the time.

Thanks to Allan Olbison for scoring and Guy Lythe for running the tuck shop.

We will get much harder challenges in the future, however a good win. Well Done everyone!!

See you on Wednesday at training!
