The second team travelled to local rivals Tadcaster for the Bank Holiday Fixture.
Following a brief warm up for most of the team Captain Williams won the toss and elected to bat first. Opening the batting with Gibson senior and Mark Knight proved worthwhile again as 68 were ground out on a low slow wicket against some tight bowling.
Gibson the first to go LBW, with a change of bowlers the run rate increased, the opposition flagging a little in the afternoon sun alongside several dropped catches we soon reached 158 prior to the loss of Riley.
With Mike Cole and Mark Knight finding the boundary the scoreboard continued to tick over, Knight eventually run out for an excellent 72. Chris Binnie came to the crease having borrowed Gibson’s bat soon found the boundary and his 19 run cameo alongside a brief 10 from the captain took TABS to 246/6 at the close.
After tea and cake we took the field with real confidence.
Jacob Thomlinson (3/19)taking the openers slot with both hands grabbing the first wicket.
With Tom Halstead (2/19)also bowling for the first time this year at the other end we soon kept the wickets tumbling. Captain Williams hoovered up the lower order returned 4/21. Well taken catches from Binnie, Gibson and Cole wrapping up the points.
Tadcaster all out for 79.
30 points in the bag, just time for the team to get back to the TABS oval to see the final overs of a fantastic last over win for the first team.
Thanks to Emma for scoring and Steve Trueman for umpiring.
